The European Solidarity Corps is the European Union's new initiative for young people, giving them the opportunity to volunteer or work on projects at home or abroad for the benefit of people and communities across Europe.

All young people participating in the European Solidarity Corps agree to its Mission and Principles and commit to abide by them.

You can join the European Solidarity Corps at age 17, but you cannot participate in a project until you turn 18.

Participation in European Solidarity Corps projects is open to young people up to the age of 30.

Once registered, European Solidarity Corps participants can be selected and invited to join a wide range of projects, for example related to preventing natural disasters or post-disaster reconstruction, assisting in asylum seeker centers, or addressing other social issues at community level.

Projects supported by the European Solidarity Corps can last between two and twelve months and generally take place in countries of the European Union.

HEY Volunteer Project

In October 2020, we started a project at AJD - Helping to Empower Youth - H.E.Y, funded by the European Solidarity Corps programme - CES, with the support of the Erasmus+ Youth in Action programme.

After 15 days of voluntary quarantine, Emiliano and Daniele, the Italian volunteers, were welcomed in November by the children and youth who attend the Ludoteca space of AJD. We will count on them for 9-11 months, which will certainly be full of discoveries and challenges!

To the soud of Cavaquinho

In May 2020 we began a new project - "Ao toque do Cavaquinho", promoted by AJD, funded by the European Solidarity Corps programme, in order to open doors and provide access to new experiences.

This project was designed by a group of young people who are part of the group and who want to promote and disseminate the learning of this popular stringed instrument, helping to keep alive the musical traditions of Northern Portugal, using the teaching of the cavaquinho as a way to achieve this.

CES: V.E.S.T.I.R. 2019

In October 2019, the V.E.S.T.I.R project started at AJD, funded by the European Solidarity Corps programme - ESC, with the support of the Erasmus+ Youth in Action programme.

We count on Cypriot Gabriel, Italian Francesca and French Martin, in this 11-month journey full of challenges and discoveries. They were essential to AJD, where they learned, taught, created, walked around and built many bonds!

From the first minute, they made their talents available for this project, which reverted in full to the association, the children, the youth and the community.

The work developed by the young volunteers was excellent and fundamental for the success of the V.E.S.T.I.R. project, which was financed by the European Solidarity Corps - CES, with the support of the Erasmus+ JA programme.
